I learned today that another American icon has passed. Charleton Heston, renowned actor, always a class act himself, and past President of the National Rifle Association, passed away today. He was 83.
While many know him for his accomplishments in Hollywood, he was a pioneer in protecting our rights in defense of the 2nd Amendment. Gun owners well know this quote during the 2000 Presidential election- “When the loss of liberty looms as it does now, this is for those who would take it — and especially for you, Mr. Gore — from my — cold — dead — hands!”
Heston was also known for his support of civil rights issues in the 1960s, of which he said the civil rights bills spurred by the march led to a “tangle of entitlements and reverse discrimination.” A man who never minced words, his legacy will remain long after his departure.
