After surviving another long Michigan winter, Spring is finally here, thus the usual list of honey-do’s are popping up faster than May dandelions. Clean out the shed, all that stuff just got tossed in there last fall between hunting trips and snowstorms. wrestle the lawn mower from the back of the shed, hope it runs. Oh, and of course the usual stuff such as re-organizing some stuff in the garage, sorting out what goes where blah blah blah. rake up the yard, scrape the mud dripped on the garage floor up and sweep it back outside . Pick up branches and sticks, burn them in the back yard. Yes, I live where you can still do that. I like it, it raises my carbon footprint and pisses the liberals off.
Once the yard restoration is underway, its tiome to tackle getting the boat ready for some fishing. AS is typical, inspection shows the stupid trailer lites arent working properly. Here we go again. This is not an unusual problem, in fact its fairly common. So I check all the bulbs, they are fine. Hmm. Ok, check the plugs on the tow vehicles, 2 of 3 are screwed up. I’ll deal with them later. Lights still out of order. This is going to be more than a 2 beer job, so I send my wife to the store for beer and stromboli. I summon elsest son for assistance. Of course he soon tires of me bitching about the lights, and slinks off quietly. I’ll get even with him later. I check out the wiring, and find L light is shot. Corroded, and a mess. Great. ALong with that, I find a few frayed wires. I decide it would be easier to rewire the trailer, so off I go to the parts store to get what i need. Fianlly, after nothing going right all afternoon, ( other that beer and stromboli) I get the stupid things to work right. A complete waste of a day to be sure.
This leads me to a question. I think America should be ashamed. We have put men on the moon, space stations in orbit, cure many diseases, and even allowed Democrats to run the show for a few years. Yet we still rely on the same pathetic way of wiring trailer lights since they started requiring lights on trailers. Can’t someone come up with a better way. Something wireless? I hate wasting an afternoon really every spring de-funking trailer wiring. It always goes bad, it rarely works right for long, and more people than not have the same problem.
Ok, thats my pet peeve for the day.
